Venturous Counselling & Consulting’s Virtual Services are offered via secured platforms. Our Nature-based In-Person and/or Walk + Talk therapy sessions are located in open spaces in Burnaby and Vancouver. If you have opted for in-office sessions, our address is 525 West 8th Avenue, in Vancouver. There is paid and free street parking, two skytrain stations and multiple public bus routes nearby. Your counsellor will meet you in the lobby of the ground floor a few minutes prior to your session.
Booking Online: Credit cards on file helps to validate online booking and ensures you always have the most up-to-date calendars to book your sessions. It also helps us streamline the administrative process so your counsellor can spend more time with you during session. If putting a credit card on file is a barrier for you to access services, please email your practitioner directly to book. If you require a timeslot outside of what’s available here, please email your practitioner. Most practitioner emails are formatted firstname@venturouscounselling.com.
Accessing your sessions: To prepare for your virtual session, please ensure that you are in a quiet, secured area. If you have an individual session booked, you will receive a link via JaneApp to your online session, 30 minutes prior to your start time. For relationship counselling, please forward this same link/email to all parties that will be attending the session. For Nature-Based In-Person and/or Walk & Talk sessions, your practitioner will provide you with an address and instructions prior to your session.

Individual Virtual Counselling Services
Let's uproot the internalized beliefs that act as the life support to problems you experience and empower your ability to choose your story and to make your own meaning. Individual counselling sessions help you co-create sustainable systems of thought by rebelliously subscribing to a different narrative. Individual counselling services are provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Registered Clinical Counsellors at Venturous have Masters degrees in counselling psychology and many years of training and specialization. Check with your extended health provider to see if RCC services are covered under your benefits plan.
In-Person Office-Based Counselling
For in-office sessions, your counsellor will meet you in the lobby of 525 West 8th Avenue, before bringing you up to our cozy office on the 7th floor.
Our office is located steps from Skytrain and bus routes, with free and paid street parking nearby. Whole Foods across the street will validate parking in their lot for up to 2 hours with the purchase of $20. It has single-stall, universal bathrooms that are also wheelchair accessible. In collective care and solidarity with our immunocompromised kin, our office is equipped with an air purifier, hand sanitizer, and masks. If you are feeling ill, please email your counsellor to switch to a virtual session.
Individual Walk & Talk, and/or Nature-Based Sessions
**Currently, Walk & Talk sessions are located in a open spaces in Vancouver or Burnaby.**
Besides being an alternative setting to deepen your inner work, research has shown that Walk & Talk therapy, especially when done in a natural environment, helps to quiet the part of our brain responsible for producing ruminative and negative thoughts while reducing depression, anxiety, and stress. When we integrate the mind, body, and nature into the work while engaging in a multi-sensory experience, our nervous system is calmed and we are able to come to more creative, deeper ways of thinking, getting ourselves unstuck when confronting difficult issues. Walk & Talk therapy can be a standalone practice or engaged in conjunction with any other service we offer.
Consulting & Clinical Supervision
Direct, no-nonsense solidarity and support in translating diversity of thought and collective ethics into practice. Our clinical supervisors and consultants have many years of post-graduate experience not only in practice but also in providing supervision and consulting services. Clinical supervision and consulting can be written off as an expense on your private practice and business income.
Individual Art-Based Services
Art-Based Practices works to relax the nervous system by engaging all your senses. Through the process of art-making, you experience a shift from your sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system; this is what helps your body self-regulate, reduce anxiety, regain control, integrate acceptance of self and turn your executive functioning back online. The most important thing to remember about art-based practices in therapy is that it's not about the artwork itself. There's no skill level required to engage in art-based practices, in fact, the more organic the piece is the better! By combining the creative process and psychotherapy, art helps you self-explore through a level of unconscious meaning-making that inaccessible through talk therapy alone.
Individual EMDR Services
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that draws on the neurobiology of the brain. By engaging in specific cadences of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps to process the "stuck" memories that are causing distress. It accesses the neuropathways that are keeping your internal alarm active beyond what's adaptive and works to help you build the neural networks that will actually work for you. Most clients find EMDR to be beneficial because it doesn't require the traumatic retelling of events and its effects are often seen within a shorter amount of time when compared to traditional talk therapy. EMDR can be used for a wide range of issues and is not limited to what is traditionally quantified as "PTSD" or "Trauma". All EMDR practitioners at Venturous have completed intensive additional training specifically to provide EMDR services.
Relationship Counselling
Collaborative and non-judgemental counselling for all relationships, including romantic partners, friendships and family members. Relationship counselling focuses on the interpersonal dynamics between each person. It can help foster a deeper understanding and acceptance of one another, and enhance trust, intimacy, and connection.
